«Исторический». Это достаточно часто и неправильно употребляемое прилагательное. Historical имеет отношение только к историческому прошлому, являясь прилагательным от слова history. Слово historic относится к современному событию, которое, возможно, впоследствии войдёт в историю. A historic building (историческое здание), например, означает, что это здание впоследствии может представлять интерес для историков, хотя в настоящее время является просто старым строительным объектом. Политические комментаторы и журналисты имеют тенденцию называть каждую встречу в верхах historic событием, в то время как на самом деле только немногие из них являются таковыми. Различие между двумя этими прилагательными исчезает в наречии historically (исторически), которое включает в себя оба эти значения.
